How to fix poor video quality issue in Chrome

You may face lousy video quality issue, sometimes it is because of bad connection and sometimes because of video content. If you’re also facing the same while watching a video in Google Chrome, then here is how to fix it and get a better video quality.

You can fix the bad video quality issue in Google Chrome by:
1.    Updating your Chrome browser.
2.    Adjusting video resolution.
3.    Turning off hardware acceleration.
4. Changing data usage settings.
Steps to update Google Chrome browser:
Although the Chrome will updates automatically if the settings are enabled in your browser. You can check the settings and also update it manually.
1.    Open ‘Google Chrome’ application.
2.    Click the ‘3-dots icon’ at the top right corner.
3.    Click ‘Help’ in the menu.
4.    Click on ‘About Google Chrome.’
A new tab will open, and Chrome start checking for the latest version if there is an update available then it starts installing it. When your Google Chrome updates successfully, you’ll see the “Relaunch” option. Click the ‘Relaunch’ button to open your browser with the latest version.
How to adjust video resolution in Google Chrome
Most of the users use YouTube to watch videos. It automatically chooses the video resolution according to your connection and video. But you can also adjust it manually. Here are the steps to change video resolution on YouTube.
1.    While watching a video, click the ‘Cog’ icon at the bottom of the video screen.
2.    Click on ‘Quality.’
3.    Select the resolution from the options.
That’s it! You can also add some extension like” Turn off the Lights” and “Magic Actions extension”  to your Chrome to adjust the video resolution with some other advanced settings.
How to disable hardware acceleration in Google Chrome
While playing a video in chrome if you’re seeing flashing elements, green screen, or video stuttering, then it may happen because of enabled hardware acceleration. You can disable the feature with the below steps.
1.    Open ‘Google Chrome’ application.
2.    Click the ‘3-dots icon’ at the top right corner.
3.    Click ‘Settings’ in the menu.
4.    Click on ‘Advanced’ in the settings tab.
5.    Scroll down to the ‘System’ settings.
6.    Click and disable the ‘Hardware acceleration’ switch.
7.    After that, restart the Chrome browser to save changes.
How to adjust data usage settings
If you’re a Netflix user and watching videos in your Chrome browser on Netflix, then you can adjust data usage settings to solve the issue.
1.    Open ‘Netflix’.
2.    Log in with your Netflix account.
3.    Scroll down and click on ‘Playback settings’ under “My Profile.”
4.    Select “High or Medium’ data usage.
5.    And click ‘Save.’
