How to Open and Use Two Apps Simultaneously on iPad

Want to chat while watching your favorite show on your iPad? You can use your iPad’s split-screen feature. With this feature, you can open and work simultaneously on two different applications. It allows you to open any of the two apps at the same on your iPad’s screen. So you can chat while watching videos, browse while working on a project, and so on without having to switch forth and back the apps. You can use this feature in any iPad with iOS 11 or newer. In order to use the split-screen feature on your iPad, you’ll have to enable it first.

How to enable the split-screen feature in iPad
To enable the split view in your iPad, you need to go to the Multitasking & Dock section in your iPad’s general settings. And, then enable the “Allow Multiple Apps.” Here is how.
Note: iPad’s split view only works in landscape mode. This means you need to use the iPad horizontally.
  1. Unlock your iPad and touch the ‘Gear’ (Settings) icon on the home screen.
  2. Now, touch ‘General’ at the top in the settings screen.
  3. Look for ‘Multitasking & Dock’ and touch on it to open. It will display near the top of the general screen.
  4. Now, touch the switch of “Allow Multiple Apps” to make it green (enabled). If the switch is already enabled (green), this means the split view is working on your iPad.
  5. You can now close your iPad’s settings and use two apps simultaneously on your iPad’s screen.
  6. Close or minimize the ‘Settings’ screen.

  2. When the first app opens on the screen, access your Dock by swiping up slowly from the lower side of the screen. You’ll see several apps icon here.
  3. Now, touch and hold the icon of the second app (you’ve added to your Dock) you want to use in split-screen.

That’s it! Both of the two will be opened on your iPad’s screen. Now, you can move and adjust them according to your needs.
