PC Freezes When Playing Fortnite? Here are the Fixes

Check the PC Specs

  1. Tap the Windows and R hotkeys simultaneously for launching the Run prompt.
  2. Then insert ‘dxdiag’ in it and select the OK button.
  3. You should check the processor, memory, and OS.
  4. After that, click on the tab of Display to verify the details of the graphics card.

Reboot the System

Perhaps the programs opened in the background are hogging up significant CPU memory. Hence, it is best to simply restart the computer. This will help fix temporary bugs and glitches.

Launch the Game as an Administrator

  1. Firstly, close the Epic Games Launcher on your system.
  2. Thereafter, select the icon of ‘Epic Games’ and right-click on it, then choose the ‘Run as administrator’ option.
  3. Now, reboot the game.

Confirm Fortnite Files

  1. Launch ‘Epic Games Launcher’ on your device.
  2. Choose the Library option.
  3. Then go to the icon of Settings and click on it.
  4. You should click on the Verify button.
  5. Now, reopen Fortnite.

Look for Windows Updates

  1. To get started, go to Windows Search.
  2. Then insert ‘windows update’ in it and hit the OK button to choose the ‘Windows Update settings’ option.
  3. After that, click on the ‘Check for updates’ button.
  4. Install any available updates.
  5. Now, reboot the PC.

Set the Virtual Memory

  1. Open the Search section.
  2. Afterward, input ‘advanced system settings’ in it and select the OK button to launch the ‘View advanced system settings’ screen.
  3. Go to the Settings option and click on it.
  4. Then choose the tab of Advanced, and click on the Change button.
  5. You should untick the ‘Automatically manage paging file size for all drives’ box.
  6. Later, select drive C.
  7. Now, select the Custom size button and then input 4096 into the ‘Maximum size (MB)’ and ‘Initial size (MB).’
  8. You should click on the Set button.
  9. Now, click on the OK button.
  10. Now, reboot the system.

Reinstall Fortnite 

  1. Launch the ‘Epic Games Launcher’ on your system.
  2. Then choose the Library option and reach the menu of Settings.
  3. Tap on the Uninstall button.
  4. Now, reopen the Epic Games Launcher to download Fortnite again.
